When the scanner enters to Custom Search by select "Custom Search" at Menu, frequency is
initialized and it starts searching. When the searching direction is ascending order, the scanner
searches from lowest frequency of the turned on Range of the minimum number. When the
searching direction is descending order, the scanner searches from highest frequency of the
turned on Range of the maximum number.
When the scanner returns to Custom Search by cancel Menu Mode, the scanner will resume
searching from previous frequency with previous direction.
However, if the limit settings of one of Custom Ranges are changed and previous frequency
becomes out of limit, it searches from lowest frequency of previous Range for ascending order or
from highest frequency of previous Range for descending order.
Custom Search Temporary Hold :
The scanner searches only for selected range after pressing [SYSTEM] / [DEPT] key within 2
seconds.
And when the scanner return to Normal Mode, it searches for all range.
Custom Search Range Select :
The user can select the range by turning [Rotary / FUNC] knob after pressing [SYSTEM] /
[DEPT] key within 2 seconds to select the range.
When the scanner returns to Normal Mode, it searches from the selected range.
If the user selects a range that turned off, the scanner turns on the range and starts searching
from the range.
6.10.4. Quick Search
Quick Search searches all band coverage.
The user can start Quick Search by pressing [E yes] key in Function Mode during Scan Mode,
Close Call, Custom Search, Weather Scan Mode and Tone-Out Mode, the scanner prompts the
user with "Quick Search?".
If the user presses [E yes] key, the scanner starts Quick Search.
If the user presses [．no] key, the scanner goes to Menu Mode about searching at “Search for...”.
If the user presses [SYSTEM] / [DEPT] / [CHANNEL] key, the scanner goes directly to Quick
Search Hold Mode.
Pressing [AVOID] key cancels the prompt and it returns to previous mode.
6.10.4.1. Quick Search for frequency
The scanner searches from the current channel frequency when the Quick Search starts from
monitoring / holding conventional systems, Custom Search etc, Close Call Mode, Weather Scan
Mode and Tone-Out Mode.
The range of this searching is all range of the scanner.
Turn [Rotary / FUNC] knob to change the searching direction.

If the scanner finds a transmission, it stops on the frequency and second line displays the
frequency.
While monitoring the frequency, press [SYSTEM] / [DEPT] / [CHANNEL] key to make Hold Mode.
While monitoring the frequency, turning [Rotary / FUNC] knob to resume searching.
Press [AVOID] key once to avoid the frequency temporarily. The scanner displays "Temporary
Avoid".
